A Toast to the Beaver
Everyone one knows that in the jungle
The lion is the king;
But once a year at Wilmington Country Club
A Beaver is the thing.

When 9-19 gathers on Ladies’ Night
The ladies dress fit to kill.
Still it is just an animal
That gives everyone the biggest thrill.

Of course, a beaver it is not,
But no one gives a hoot.
He is a winner as Diamond Lil, a golfer,
Or even in an astronaut’s suit.

After your one night of glory
You rest a year as a crowned king,
Until it is time once again
To go out and do your thing.

This is a time of sadness
Because all your past finery must go.
Still like a phoenix from the fire
You arise with a new glow.

So here is to the Beaver
The greatest animal of all.
As long as you reign supreme
The 9-19 cannot fall.
