Cups and Historical Social Events
The Hurley Cup

The Hurley Cup was presented to the club by the Hurley family in memory of Jack Hurley. It was awarded annually to the member who played no less than 50% of the Clubs playing dates, and who had the greatest improvement in his game for the season as established by his starting and finishing handicaps.

As of 2026, the 9-19 Club’s Hurley Cup is awarded annually to the member who has played no less than 25% of the Club’s playing dates and who has the greatest improvement in his game for the season as established by comparing each member’s starting and ending handicap index. Because this competition covers the entire season, only 9-19ers who are members at the beginning of the season qualify for this competition.

The LeNoir Cup

The LeNoir Cup was presented to the Club by Andrew J. LeNoir. It was awarded annually to the member winning the 9-19 Golf Tournament.

Beginning in 2020, the LeNoir Cup is awarded annually to the member who has the lowest total three net scores from Saturday 9-19 Stroke Play. Each member is automatically entered in the competition.
The Saville Cup

The Saville Cup was presented to the Club by Joseph D. DiSabatino and Aubrey B. Lank. It is awarded for distinguished service to the 9-19 Club.

In recent years, the Saville Cup is not awarded annually but rather as warranted to a member who provides distinguished service to the 9-19 Club. Awarding this Cup requires a recommendation by the Executive Committee followed by approval by the 9-19 Club membership.

Doerger Day

July 18, 1969, was the day the "Grand Beaver", Charles H. Doerger, Founder of the Club, was honored with a surprise day at Concord Country Club.

He was greeted by the members adorned in 9-19 caps and Doerger Day tee shirts. Following dinner, a Resolution was presented proclaiming that henceforth the most important golfing day of the year was to be officially known as "Doerger Day" in recognition of his efforts, enthusiasm, and immeasurable contributions to 9-19.

On Doerger Day, the Wilmington Country Club commemorated the event by serving Doerger burgers. These were cheeseburgers or hamburgers topped with a BLT.
